Building Information Modelling (or BIM) is the process of creating and managing an intelligent 3D model that can be used throughout the project lifecycle. Also known as Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), the model can be used to compare design options, coordinate design elements, extract coordinated construction drawings and accurate quantities of materials, perform pre-construction analysis, conduct constructability reviews, simulate construction, and perform facility and asset management functions.
